Tryout Information for All-Groups

 Our Club goal is to have 2 teams per age group (25+ players). We encourage all players to attend the tryouts, no matter what their prior playing experience may be. 

Tryouts are directed by a seperate coach in the Club, allowing the head coach for the team trying-out to properly evaluate the players. Our two-day tryout process begins with a technically focused session on Day 1, followed by a game-play focused session on Day 2.

This year, Butte United has hired 3 Independant Evaluators for each Age-Group/Gender. These evaluators are former high level players and or coaches who possess the ability to identify and rank players. We believe this is the fairest way evaluate players and prevent any biases towards players. The head coach for the team will be present and making their own evaluations. The Top-8 ranked players are gaurenteed a spot on the team. The head coach then selects the remaining players. Coaches are not only looking for the skilled soccer player, but also athletes who have the potential to be trained to play competitive soccer. 

Butte United does not have an Age-Pure Policy in place. Players who wish to play up, MUST attend both tryouts for their Age-Group. After tryouts the Independant Evaluators, Head Coach and Director of Coaches will discuss if a player(s) deserves to opportunity to play up. In these rare circumstances, players will be invited to participate in the older Age-Group tryouts.
