Butte United Affiliates with
US Club Soccer
Butte United Board made the decision to affiliate with US Club Soccer. At the June Board meeting, there was much discussion on how to proceed with our season for 2009. There have been many organization and direction changes at CYSA's District VI, impacting our decision on how and when we proceed with US Club Soccer. After weighing the pros and cons, the Board voted unamimously to affiliate with US Club Soccer for our 2009 fall season. We also decided to continue our affiliation with CYSA so that coaches and their teams can chose between Division III or US Club Soccer for 2009.
US Club Soccer focuses on high-level competitive play for it's teams. There are fundamental differences in how it is run, compared to CYSA. As a player or soccer family, there should be little to no difference between Division I CYSA play and US Club Soccer -- both strive to attain the highest level of competitive play. As a Club, our coaches will receive soccer coach training, our administrative work will be streamlined, and we should be able to play against a broader range of teams than just those in District VI. It's a year of change for our Club -- we count on all of our coaches, parents, and players to help weather the storms, identify adjustments to be made, and most importantly, have a great soccer season!
There are lots of activities and things to get done to make Butte United a success for our nearly 200 players and families. We are run by volunteers, and our committee are where it's happening. Check out the new Committee page to find out what we've already got established, and which ones we're still in need of volunteers.
Want to get involved in tryouts or registration for next year? We need 3 or 4 more people to help out next year. Let us know so we can include you early on in the planning states. We sincerely appreciate all of the time that our members donate to get things done. We need more families to participate -- contact your coach or any Board member to let us know your interests and special talents!
Butte United has a history of helping families with financial assistance so that their kids can play soccer. We have established a new committee to review and approve applications for financial aid. Our goal is to ensure that financial assistance is applied fairly to our families.. Financial aid ranges from full scholarships to a variety of payment plans. Payment in full must be made by September, or earlier for summer tournaments. so that player passes can be distributed.
As our Club relies on volunteer work from our player families, we look to families receiving scholarships to contribute their time, to help offset the cost of registration. Click here for the application, which is stored on the Documents page.
